5 Tricks to Gaining Respect

Below I am going to let you in on the 5 tricks to gaining respect both from yourself as well as from others. Everyone wants to be able to command respect from others, doing so makes us feel good about ourselves and our accomplishments. The reality is that it is not automatic rather a process that takes time. Gaining respect from others begins within you, how you behave, react, act and what you believe and stand for. It starts with you trusting, believing in and respecting yourself and your boundaries. We tend to respect people that are strong, independent and know who they are and what they want in life but when it comes to ourselves often fail to remember that fact when seeking the respect we so crave.

  1. Respect yourself if you want to get respect from others

You know as well as I do that it is very difficult to respect someone that does not respect themselves. We look for self worth, self love and self care in those we admire. We respect people that we admire or feel show strength in some way.

  1. Set up boundaries that support you and follow them

When we don´t set boundaries that support us we set ourselves up for failure. Boundaries are there to ensure your success and to reduce stress. Properly set up and used they increase your quality of life, self respect and enlist more respect from others.

  1. Take time for yourself

We are often the last person on our priority list whether we admit it or not. We tend to do things for others and overextend ourselves putting our needs on hold when in fact we should really be making them our priority. Put yourself at the top of the list, do for yourself first and you will reap the benefits not to mention have more energy to do for others.

  1. Take care of your body mind and soul

In order to feel whole and be able to respect who you are as a person you need to like yourself and in order to do that you need to know who you are and what you stand for and feel good physically. Take care of your body and you will automatically begin to feel better about yourself, more energetic, positive and clear headed. Take care of your mind by meditating, exploring who you are and by using tools like self reflection or change of perspective to improve your life. By nourishing your soul with whatever spirituality serves you can feel whole and completely at peace.

  1. Nourish your mind with inspirational information

When we fill our mind with inspirational information and new ideas we become more open, confident and wise. Each day you should take time to read something that makes you feel good and that you can learn something new from.
