The Business of Being a Mom-How to Eliminate Stress and Love Your Life

This post is dedicated to you girls, you know who you are. Being a stay at home mom has its perks but it also has a downside. The image of being what I call a front line coordinator is awesome for those that don’t do it. It is coveted by working moms world wide because they believe you get these incredible moments, fantastic times when you connect with your kids and that life is just easier, smoother and pleasant when you are home. We are going to explore that in this post. What is life like a working mom? Wake up, get the kids up, get them to brush their teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast, all the while trying to get your face on, trying to do something about that hair and pick clothes so you look presentable. You drag them to the car  a panic because you are afraid you will be late for work. Shit you forgot the lunches, OK Tim Hortons drive through and were good....

Memories of times gone by

I sit here watching the whithered gaunt face of my beloved grandfather as he struggles for breath. His breathing is raspy. Thats normal according to the instructional booklet for the family of the dying. He probably won’t wake up.  I’ve already said my last words and he has said his. His voice will now only exist on the videos captured in the past. I feel mixed  feelings of sadness for me and relief for him. He was ready, far more so than I.  I have almost been avoiding this, him for a few weeks but now its inevitable. He will turn 91 in a month and that can be a time for looking back at the many years we spent together.  Some of his favorite memories that he loved to remind me of flood back as I sit and wait to hear if their will be another breath after the last. My little friend Shawn from Lynn Lake Manitoba that would call out Drifffffaaa when he was looking for...

So you think you are superman?

So you think you are superman or woman. To hell with work life balance, you have decided that you and only you can save the world. Everyone that comes to you with their problems needs your help and you are going to give it to them even if it means putting everything on hold in the meantime. You are going to accomplish more than is humanly possible in less time than it takes to snap your fingers and you are going to do it with style. That´s just the way you roll. You know that in the past when that feeling of panic has come around that you have had to slow down and that the stress has taken a toll until you have a bit of a breakdown and have to let some things slide. Unfortunately you also know that when you take on too much you give up any semblance of work life balance and forgo being able to manage your family and business because you are to busy getting things done. This doesn’t worry...

Get a hold of your thinking!

It is time to grow up, in your thinking anyway. The time for the easygoing, carefree life where you can let your mind run free is over. There is too much junk in there. If you are reading this you have lived quite a life, you have baggage, you have a backpack full of experiences behind you and you know that the only person that is really responsible for your life is you.   We all have thoughts flowing through our mind constantly, anywhere from 12000 to 50 000 a day according to the National Science Foundation. That is pretty powerful. That is why we need to be extremely conscious of the power that these thoughts hold. As these thoughts flow through our minds we are not even aware a lot of the time of the feelings that accompany them. We feel sad, happy, irritated, angry or frustrated sometimes without knowing why. My guess is that one or more of those thousands of thoughts is getting in the way and causing a...
